Editing shortcuts

Modifier	Keys	Effect
Ctrl	arrow keys left & right	Jump across whole words. (Space stepping is different between OSes & apps.)
Ctrl	arrow keys up & down	Jump across whole paragraphs. (Cursor position is different between apps.)
Shift	arrow keys	Select text between start and end point.
Ctrl+Shift	arrow keys left & right	Select whole words.
Ctrl+Shift	arrow keys up & down	Select whole paragraphs, from starting point. (Paragraph selection is different between apps.)
Alt+Shift	arrow keys up & down	Move whole paragraph (line) up or down, swapping places with other paragraphs. Move table rows up or down. Risky when moving complex blocks through other complex blocks. Do NOT do this through a table in Google Docs, it breaks the document and you can no longer edit the whole document.
Alt+Shift	arrow keys left & right	Changes the indent level or hierarchy level of a paragraph, including heading level and list level. Only supported in some apps, such as MS Office.
